Dr Richard Williams – Managing Director

The originator and founding Director of Procertis, Richard began his career in scientific research, moving over to the IT industry some 25 years ago.

  • He has extensive experience of all levels of delivery within the IT industry, from software development to strategic consulting, and across a diverse range of industry sectors including retail finance, automotive manufacturing, power utilities, FMCG and public sector.
  • Richard’s key focus is on how organisations use information to maximise business value, with an emphasis on strategy development, organisational and process change. He is also instrumental in the development of re-usable analytical tools and approaches to help reduce the cost and timeframe of consulting interventions.
  • Richard has a B.Sc. in Biology from Birmingham University, a M.Sc. in Pure and Applied Systematics from Reading University and a Ph.D in Molecular Biology from the University of Warwick. He is also a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London

Gordon Miller – Principal Business Architect

Gordon is an experienced business architect with in-depth business process modelling, data modelling and system specification skills focused on delivering business benefits that generate true sustainable value.

  • With over 20 years experience across a large number of sectors, including government, financial (both retail and commercial), logistics, manufacturing and FMCG, he has worked with clients to resolve their key business issues relating to their processes, data and systems.
  • Gordon has successfully mentored key staff within government and large organisations on the use of best practice methodologies and tools for large project delivery.

Kevin Varney ACMA

Kevin is a founding director of Procertis, with responsibility for the day to day management of finance, and the long term structuring of financial support and investor relations

  • He is a founder and Senior Partner of Varney Barfield with 22 years in accountancy practice operating in the corporate market
  • Kevin is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

Paul May – Research Associate

Paul May consults to organisations in the UK, Europe and US. He has worked in the energy, entertainment, financial services, health, IT services, retail and transport sectors

  • He is author of the bestselling Business of Ecommerce (Cambridge), and its follow-up Mobile Commerce (Cambridge). He co-wrote Management Consulting in Practice (Kogan Page) and has helped write and edit several more business books
  • His writing has appeared in The Guardian and his drama has been produced by BBC radio
